Final Summer Weekend in Sakhalin - Part 1

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This was my last Summer weekend in Sakhalin (Carrie has already left for Texas - sad she couldn't join us...) before I leave for a 2 week training course in Houston and 2 week vacation in China.  I knew it had to be epic - and it was!

It is already 11:30PM so I will not be able to write too much but I will be able to post pictures and a few comments.

Here is the short summary of the weekend:

Went to work with 2 massive bags - 1 full of fishing equipment and the other a huge backpacking backpack filled out with gear for 2 people to camp - this got some awesome stares when coming into work

Worked hard all day and left around 5PM to drive 1.5 hours North to camp at the Eye River on the Okhotsk Sea

Went with my friends Oleg, Luke and Misha

We planned to fish until sunset, catch salmon, cook salmon, eat salmon, talk about salmon, talk about life around a fire, set up camp and then go to bed on the beach

Everything went according to plan and it was incredible

 

What a great night spent with good friends enjoying God's beautiful creation and world class fishing and world class conversation with a group of adventurous men - thanks Oleg, Luke and Misha for joining.

 Misha caught his first salmon after only 30 seconds of fishing - What a man!

Misha teaching me the old Russian saying that "You know you are rich when you can eat caviar with a spoon".  Misha is eating his caviar with a spoon :-)
